From Ledesma Street, the search for a chill out place led us to the streets of JM Basa and Ortiz. There are undoubtedly many must try restaurants and cafe in the Iloilo City proper. Of course, never miss Roberto's Siopao, something that's truly made a mark for years to every individual who went in and out of the city. They say, you can never be called purely Ilonggo if you don't have the passion and appreciation for good food. When I was in Manila, friends and colleagues would always tell me that they finally understood how Ilonggos can easily make comparisons between what is and what's not because the best food is served here, and they've all had their own gastronomic adventures while staying in Iloilo. :)
Anyway, we walked down town and had a partial list of places where we will eat next time. :) I remembered back in college when we were doing our thesis, we had to walk at Ortiz Street and ride a boat to Jordan, Guimaras. I already kept an eye on this coffee house and I even thought it was Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. My thesis mates and I agreed that we will check this place once all is well, we were stressed and more importantly broke on that semester, which pretty much explained why we never had the chance to go here.
So after two years, I'm back and glad to see that it's still here. The Coffee House Beanery is located across the Iloilo City Hall and behind a gasoline station. Good thing we were already inside when the rain started to pour out.
I don't want to leave a single detail on what you will see inside. :) Check out their menu.
Berryccino Frost (Php95)
Made up my own tip that I want to share. Haha! #feelingpro Grab another object and pair it with your subject to make your photo more dramatic. Anyway, don't follow the photo I took on top, bad angle! Hahaha. But yes, I did get Jessie's eyeglasses for the dramatic effect. #choslang Berryccino Frost is a combi of Strawberry and Coffee, looked like Strawberry and tasted purely Coffee.
Look at the colors, all the girly colors that I love. It's like sprinkled with sugar, spice and everything nice.
Big Fat Chewies
We loved the ala freshly baked smell of this Big Fat Chewy and this is Jessie's fave, maybe because of the name. Hahaha peace! A soft cookie with sweet chocolate chips that melted in my mouth.
Choco Snowballs
Choco snowballs were like wafery hard chocolates I honestly can't explain. :p
Thank you to my sweet little helper (BIG helper) for taking all the beautiful photos inside the coffee house because I was busy editing the collage that I will post on Instagram, even though he was busy editing too. Haha!
Overall, the ambiance of the place was good, even perfect for the rainy and gloomy afternoon. Though we were not able to have a glimpse of their cakes, since they were not served that time. :( We shall return soon, try their lunch specialties and for sure, bring more friends with us.
